The Nuffic English Junior Speaking Contest for Zuid Holland was held in our school on Wednesday 12 April. We (Musoen and Mila, both 5v) were lucky enough to be a part of the question panel. Our task was to ask the contestants two appropriate questions about their speech, such as asking for further information or the participant’s opinion on something to do with their subject.
Both second and third years students from a number of local TTO schools participated. We heard some amazing speeches and carefully formulated answers, which was very interesting. Luckily, we were not the ones who had to choose a winner, as there were so many captivating speeches that that would have been a difficult decision! This task was left to a panel of three experienced judges.
The winners will go on to compete in the national final in June.
Overall, it was a truly enjoyable experience and we loved listening to the intellectual ideas and high level of English which was used.
